MOHAVE COUNTY – Girl Scouts across Mohave County can make this summer both enriching and fun through Mohave Community College’s College for Kids, a youth program designed for children ages 8-12. The camps give Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts the opportunity to earn official badges while diving into creative and educational adventures.
The camps are held on the Lake Havasu and Kingman campuses, each camp runs from 8 AM to noon and is led by experienced instructors who encourage curiosity, confidence, and creativity. Camps are 3 to 4 days long, priced between $110 and $135, with new sessions starting weekly in June.
In Art Adventure Camp, scouts can earn the Brownie and Junior Art & Design badges while exploring painting, sculpture, mixed media, and cultural art. The camp concludes with a family-friendly art showcase that celebrates their creative accomplishments.
The Creative Writing Camp helps Junior Scouts earn the Scribe badge as they develop their storytelling skills through fun writing prompts, character development, and collaborative brainstorming sessions.
At Entrepreneur / Shark Tank Camp, Brownie and Junior Scouts take on the challenge of creating and pitching their own business ideas. In a supportive, Shark Tank-style environment, they learn branding, budgeting, and marketing skills while earning the Budding Entrepreneur or Business Jumpstart badge.
Future Scientists Camp allows Brownie and Junior scouts to explore chemistry, biology, physics, and rocket science through interactive experiments and projects. This camp supports the STEM Career Exploration badge and sparks a love of scientific discovery.
Mini-Medics Camp, also aligned with the STEM Career Exploration badge, introduces students to the wonders of the human body. Through hands-on anatomy experiments, reflex testing, and model building, scouts gain a deeper understanding of how their bodies work.
In Paws & Pets Camp, Brownie scouts earn the Pets badge while learning the fundamentals of responsible pet care, animal behavior, and advocacy for animals in need.
Some specialty camps are available only at the Kingman campus. In Mystery Sleuths Camp, Junior Scouts can earn the Detective badge by learning forensic science techniques such as fingerprint analysis and memory-based observation to solve mysteries.
Outdoor Adventure & Science Camp, for Brownie Scouts, focuses on space and nature. It ties into the Space Science Adventurer badge and teaches outdoor survival skills, desert ecology, and wildlife safety.
The Space Exploration & Rocket Science Camp gives Brownie and Junior Scouts the opportunity to build Mars landers, launch rockets, and explore the science behind space missions. This camp also supports the STEM Career Exploration badge.
In Underwater Exploration & Marine Science Camp, scouts investigate marine biology, conservation and ocean exploration by building submarines and studying aquatic ecosystems while earning STEM-related badges in the process.
