River Cities Ready for a Month of Festivities

Laughlin: Los Ángeles Azules Open the Month — May 3

RIVER CITIES — May on the lower Colorado River promises headliners under the desert sky, a free wedding showcase overlooking the fairways, and solemn tributes to those who served. Together, Bullhead City, Laughlin and Needles will keep residents and visitors busy from the season’s first bass‑boat launch to the last Memorial Day wreath.
Laughlin fires the opening shot when Mexican cumbia icons Los Ángeles Azules play Harrah’s Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater on Saturday, May 3, 8 p.m. Tickets begin near forty‑five dollars and gates open an hour early, giving dance‑ready fans time to secure seats along the riverbank.

Classic Rock Rolls In — Marshall Tucker Band, May 10

A week later, classic rock rolls in: The Marshall Tucker Band appears at The Edge Pavilion, Edgewater Casino, Saturday, May 10, 7 p.m. General‑admission lawn spots start in the mid‑fifties, with hotel‑and‑show bundles drawing weekenders from Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Memorial Day Weekend Twang — Big & Rich with Gretchen Wilson, May 24

Memorial Day weekend delivers the biggest burst of twang when the Laughlin Event Center welcomes Big & Rich featuring Gretchen Wilson on Saturday, May 24, 7 p.m. Ticket prices open at $49.50 for the 9,300‑seat stadium behind the outlet mall. Shuttle buses will circle the casinos, and planners hint at a fireworks flourish once the final encore fades.

Casino Lounges Keep the Music Flowing

Between marquee dates, Laughlin’s lounges keep the amps warm. Riverside Resort’s Losers’ Lounge books cover bands Thursday through Sunday nights; Tropicana’s Tango Lounge leans on local rock Fridays and Saturdays; and Edgewater’s comedy club fills midweek slots with traveling stand‑ups. All shows are first‑come, first‑served, making them easy add‑ons to an evening on the gaming floor.

Bullhead City Wedding Expo — May 18

Across the river, Bullhead City shifts the spotlight to nuptials with the “Eat, Drink and Be Married” Wedding Expo on Sunday, May 18, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at Laughlin Ranch Golf Club, 1360 William Hardy Drive. Admission is free. More than forty vendors—planners, florists, DJs, gown designers and bakers—will line the clubhouse ballroom and terrace. Couples who preregister online receive swag bags and prize‑drawing entries, but walk‑ins can still sample cakes, sip champagne and scout panoramic ceremony sites.

Community Staples: Farmers Market & Jazz Nights

Community staples fill the weekends. The Bullhead City Community Park Farmers Market returns Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. with produce, honey and live acoustic sets beside the waterfront. Each Friday in May, Jazz Nights on the Patio at Laughlin Ranch pair sunset sax riffs with barbecue plates from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Health & Wellness Fair — May 27

Toward month’s end, health takes center stage inside the air‑conditioned Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse, where the Spring Health & Wellness Fair opens Tuesday, May 27, 9 a.m. Exhibitors will offer free screenings, fitness demos and senior‑services information through the week, giving residents a cool place to prepare for triple‑digit summer days.

Spring on the River: Fun, Music and Remembrance

With arena concerts, free expos, open‑air markets and time‑honored commemorations, the river communities offer a packed May of fun and memories. Whether two‑stepping to cumbia, tasting wedding cake samples or observing taps at a flag‑lined park, the tri‑state region invites everyone to celebrate spring on the water.
