MOHAVE COUNTY — Mohave Community College would like to congratulate Kingman Campus student Milaya Jackson for being selected to represent the College as a 2025 All-Arizona Academic Team member.
Full-Tuition Scholarship for All-Arizona Academic Team Members
All-Arizona Academic Team members in the transfer category receive a full-tuition scholarship to any public university in Arizona after they graduate from MCC. The scholarship covers resident tuition for 10 consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits for the fall and spring semesters.
Milaya Jackson’s Academic Journey
Jackson plans to transfer to either Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or The University of Arizona. She’s still exploring her options of what bachelor’s degree she would like to pursue.
At MCC, she’s working toward earning her Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. She decided on liberal arts to explore different subjects, figure out her interests, and get her pre-requisites out of the way.
Through her Liberal Arts degree, she’s been able to take art classes that have made her reconnect with her creativity. Jackson has also found a “love” for psychology and English while working towards her degree.
Why Jackson Chose MCC
She decided to attend MCC because she wanted to further her education and knew she wanted to better herself.
“Attending MCC is one of the best choices I’ve made,” Jackson said. “Not only did I further my education and better myself, but I also gained a lot of experience that will help me in my future.”
While going to school, she obtained a work-study job in the library where she was able to earn a paycheck, and when she had time available, could do her schoolwork.
Jackson’s Involvement in Student Life
On campus, she’s very involved with student life. Jackson is the Student Activities Council (SAC) President and is involved with Phi Theta Kappa, Art Club, Equal Club, Ovis, and Psyched Out. She started getting involved after being nudged by her aunt to attend an SAC meeting, and since then others have encouraged her to go further as a student leader.
“Student clubs are a place where I don’t have to worry about anything else and enjoy being present in the moment and interacting with other students,” Jackson said. “I’ve met so many great people and learned so much from joining different clubs, including that I make a good leader.”
Jackson’s Creative Hobbies and Background
In her spare time, she enjoys doing creative things like journaling, sewing, making collages and zines. She also enjoys reading and spending the summers by the lake with friends and family. Jackson is from Illinois and moved to the Kingman area in 2021.
All-Arizona Academic Team Honors
A total of five students from MCC were honored as All-Arizona Academic Team members: Karla Carrera (Bullhead), Jollene Ramirez (Bullhead), Centa Davis (Lake Havasu), Milaya Jackson (Kingman), and Morgan Knudson (Colorado City).
